NCO considers the sea staff as the frontrunners in the implementation of a safe, efficient and cost-effective operation of ships. They are the end users and implementers of the systems. As such, NCO pays particular attention to the recruitment, training, development and monitoring of the officers and crew that they employ.

To ensure this, NCO’s affiliate Manning Agency, Phoenix Maritime Corporation (PMC), is located side by side with their office in the Philippines. This ensures that their stringent requirements and standards for crew recruitment are strictly implemented, controlled and always met. Prior to employment, deck and engine officers undergo upgrading for five (5) days and ISM seminars for another five (5) days. Crew ratings also undergo ISM seminars for five (5) days to impart to them the importance of safety management. Continuous training and seminars regularly keep them up to date with standards that the company demands.

NCO employs full compliments of well-qualified Filipino officers and crew, duly certified internationally. Though many of their officers and crew have stayed for them for years, NCO continue to employ new, well qualified, young and experienced officers and crew to bring in new ideas and maintain a young fleet of officers and crew ready for the ever demanding shipping world.

Masters, Chief Engineers and senior officers are thoroughly briefed on their duties and their vessel’s assignment before joining onboard. This helps create trust and confidence between the shore based and sea based personnel that lead to good communication and efficient operation.

The Master and Chief Engineer continuously monitor officers and crewmembers of their performances in a quarterly basis while onboard by keeping a personnel records in accordance with the company SMS.

NCO policy of giving attention to the smallest details and continuous system review is designed to ensure that they operate at Owners full satisfaction.
